Coaching Tips for your Flower Girls:

Coaching Tips for your Flower Girls:

Together with ring bearers, flower girls add charm and elegance to your wedding party. They’ll certainly look and feel absolutely adorable in their fabulous flower girl dresses. Whether you go for little girl designer clothes or casual kids clothing, your little one is certain to steal some limelight from the bride.

Sure, you have shopped for the picture-perfect flower girl dress, but have you coached the little angel on what to do and how to walk down the aisle? The last thing you want is for your flower girls to be in disarray during the wedding ceremony. Of course, there’s a reason why wedding experts recommend that your flower girls should be older than 4 years. You want girls who are old enough to understand and follow directions.

Today, we are going to look at five tips on how to effectively coach your little angels before they walk down the aisle.

1. Keep it Simple but Be Very Thorough and Clear
The first thing you should do is explain to the little girl what her duties are. Keep it simple, so you don’t overwhelm her. Generally, a flower girl walks down the aisle before the bridal party, often tossing flower petals, confetti, rice or whatever you choose. Make sure to explain these roles as clearly and thoroughly as possible.

2. Let Her take the Dress for a Test Run
Coaching is never easy when you’re only using words. That’s why it pays to invite the flower girls to attend the rehearsal. More importantly, let them wear their cute flower girl dresses so they can take them for a practice run. This way, you can make sure they are comfy and the right fit.

3. Demonstrate, Demonstrate, Demonstrate
Again, don’t just talk -- show them how it’s done. Demonstrate how petals are thrown gently on the flow.

4. Consider a One-on-One Run-Through
With so many people in the rehearsal, it might not be an ideal place for the little one to practice properly. As such, have a private run-through for each flower girl.

5. Build their Confidence
Cheer the girls up, and let them know that you’re proud of them. A few reassuring words can go a long way to keep them confident.
